Happy Father's Day

Hey Daddy. Well as is about par for me, I missed the deadline with the old postmaster to get your gift in the mail on time for Father' Day. So, I have been sitting here at my computer for what seems like hours trying to post a video from YouTube especially for you. You would have loved it, however, for some reason I cannot get it to post to my blog. Another day to learn about that. I wanted to show the world part of what I love about you.
There are many, many things that I could mention but I won't share them all. My dad is one of the very best quitarists that I have ever heard. I wanted to play this video of my daddy's favorite guitarist "Doyle Dykes". You can see it at this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_pX2iwsYWw I have always loved sitting around and listening to my daddy play his guitar. He taught himself to play when he was about 14 yrs old and has always given glory to God for his talents. He has even built several beautiful and ingeniously designed guitars by hand. My dad has also written an incredible memory course, part of which instructs individuals to memorize and recall the 4 "Gospels" in the Bible. By the way, you can check out his books and course online at http://www.BibleInstantRecall.com. He likes to tell good jokes, cooks great BBQ, sings well, does some great impressions (the best one "Crazy Googenheim"), a great painter (I think that's where I got that talent), a good listener, excellent minister and public speaker, a good husband -I think, he even made a "Tang" cake when we were little- some of you probably don't even know what "Tang" is. He loves Jesus and has devoted most of entire adult life pastoring churches and sharing God's love. But very best of all, He's always been a great "Daddy".
Love You Daddy,
Happy Father's Day

Adelily Festival

Our town held its 2nd Annual "Adelily Festival" this past weekend. We had a great time seeing all of the vendors and their wares in our small town. Below is a picture of our friend, Mrs. Evelyn McCranie. She is our "Daylily Festival Queen". Evelyn is our queen because about 3 years ago she named our town its very fitting name "The City of Daylilies". I really think its because she's such a fun, outgoing, doing anything for anyone at anytime kind of gal- but ok, maybe its because of the name founding thing. Anyway, I love her and she has been a blessing to me and my family over the past 3 years that I have known her and I just wanted you to meet her.

I chose this daylily out of hundreds in the show because of its rareity. It is a Polly Steeple type of Daylily and is called "Colonel Scarboro". It is special because of its number of petals. It has 8 petals and most daylilies have only 6.

Adelily Festival

I was thrilled to meet this artist at our town's festival. Her name is Dottie Sinclair. Wow, what a small world-she just lives about 1 mile from me. She creates beautiful little watercolor paintings that make you want to jump right in them. You can see one of them in the post below-but it looks even better in person. Most of them are tropical or beach themed in all of my favorite colors. We purchased one of her painted fish wall hangings which we all love. They are just adorable, whimsical pieces of art that are painted from the (bark?) of a palm tree. I can't quite remember what those crazy things were called, but it looks to me like she peeled a palm tree and painted the peelings to look like fish-how clever!!

Adelily Festival

This is sweet little Aspen who was one of my art students this year. She and her mom Diedra were perusing the festival and looking cool in their shades. Believe me, that may have been the only sign of "cool" this day---IT WAS SCORCHING HOT!!!!

Thought I would post some of my recent murals. I have not learned how to post them on the website, so I'll just use what I know !

"Maci's Little Baby"

Just finished this simple little mural for Baby Brady (Maci's little brother). Maci who is 2 and just as cute as a button, borrowed a few of my books for mom to read to her while I was painting. It was fun to see her response when she saw the dragonflies being painted on the wall. When I was finished she said "Here's your books, now go home! Out of the mouth of babes!!! Love em'.
